Most Successful Cornish Junior Ever!

Louis on Optasia Showcourt
Louis Murray becomes Cornwall’s most successful junior ever!!!

Louis first moved to Cornwall as a promising young footballer at age 9, but looking to make new friends in the Duchy he decided to enter one of our Grand Prix junior competitions for a bit of fun… He made the final and has never looked back since. At 12 old years he jumped on the National junior circuit, along with colleague Jack Mahon and represented Cornwall across the country at every major event, managing to push into the top 20 of the rankings, then top 10 at u15 level and soon after the top 5. Covid proved a frustrating short term break in his progress but as the World came out of the pandemic, he raced back onto the circuit and even reached the No 1 ranking at u17 (and England squad status) level for a while. But it is now at u19, that Louis has achieved the near perfect hatrick of leading the Truro school team to the 2022 National title, gaining a squash scholarship at Harvard University and just this weekend winning his first major national junior title on the circuit – having come very close several times before. Cornwall has had several amazing junior players over the years, Joel Brickell, Rory Brickell, Jamie Moxom, Max Millar, Jon Newton, Jared London and especially Jack Mahon in recent years. But Louis has now surely established himself as the most successful junior player in Cornwall history and the whole of Cornwall County Squash wish him every success as he shortly transitions into his adult (and perhaps professional Squash) career in the USA.
