Cornwall County League – Update

WhatsApp Image 2023-11-29 at 21.13.08

It’s nearing crunch time for the first half of the Cornwall County League season, and it’s still all to play for!

In League 3, the Truro Juniors team (pictured) have taken the first half title with a undefeated run of ten victories, with a 12-3 win over Falmouth 3 last night. They are fairly closely followed by Bude 2 who are looking like favorites for the title in the new year…

In League 2, Falmouth 2 are currently topping the charts with a convincing 15-1 victory over Penzance 1 last night. However, it’s not over yet. Newquay 1 have two games in-hand. If they manage to get 30 points then they’ll take the league win by one point. Truro 4, Penzance 1 and Bude 1 are still battling it out for third spot, so it’s going to be close.

In League 1, Truro 1 have continued their recent tradition of being the team to beat, taking the title some time ago. Only six points are currently separating the next four teams, with Newquay 2 and Truro 2 safe from relegation. Falmouth 1 currently sit bottom, but have two games in hand. So there’s a number of possibilities for placings in the league, and nothing is certain as yet.

Nail-biting stuff!

Well done to all of the newcomers to the Cornwall Squash county leagues this year, we hope you’ve had some fun and enjoyable matches. And thanks to all of the club cooks for providing the meals (and pubs).
