2016 Knock-Out Cups

PAWLE CUP & HINE PLATE 2016
After considerable deliberation the following is the draw for our
inter-club county knock outs. It hasn't been easy with just 6 clubs
(the Uni team are away so not entering this year). I have tried to
tweak it to make it more challenging and to increase involvement.
Matches are to be played in April and RESULTS MUST BE
SENT BY EMAIL TO ME AS GAMES WON (OR POINTS
COUNTBACK IF TEAMS HAVE THE SAME) DETERMINE
WHETHER YOU STAY IN OR GET KNOCKED OUT. This will
allow all six clubs to play in the first round. I have seeded the clubs
according to league positions this week.

Round 1 - matches to be played before 23rd April

MATCH A. Pirates (6) v Truro (1) Teams of 4 Rd 1 but 5 for the
MATCH B. Bodmin (4) v NQY (2) final if poss
MATCH C. Bude (4) v Falmouth (3)

HOW IT WILL WORK: The HIGHEST SCORING LOSER from the
three matches will proceed to the HINE PLATE FINAL (@
TRURO); the two other losers will then play a SEMI-FINAL for the
other place in the final. I will 'toss a coin' to work out who plays at
home - match to be played before SUPER SATURDAY IN MAY*.
The same will happen for the PAWLE CUP: the top scoring team
will proceed to the final and the two WINNING BUT LOWER
SCORING CLUBS will play a semi-final.

SUPER SATURDAY may need to be moved! Truro S&RC has a
PRO EXHIBITION MATCH between WORLD #1 Mo Shorbagy
and WORLD U25 PLAYER of the YEAR Mazen Hasham (flying
in from Cairo!). I will let you all know as soon as I have been
given an alternative date by the club. Sunday 8th May possibly?

I hope it all makes sense. By doing this every player is motivated to
score as many points/win games as possible. It's all based on merit
even the seedings. The alternative of top two seeds with byes to semis
and bottom four playing first round with two losers going into the
Hine Final does have its obvious
problems (better to lose than win!).

Hospitality: home team to provide meal each time but NOT DRINKS
(buy your own).

I will post results as they come in so captains will know what their
points target will be.

It does all depend on results coming to me so any team captain failing
to do so may incur a POINTS PENALTY.

Enjoy your remaining league matches - it's all to play for - and good
luck in the knock-outs,

Tony
